The entire release unspools as a study in sonic erosion: warped forms blasted at their seams yet retaining an unshakable density—mysterious, broken, and fiercely intact.
An arresting labyrinth of abstract noise and industrial glitch
Marco Simioni crafts sonic forms with a sculptor’s precision—shaping, fracturing, and reassembling sound matter at its fringes. The London-based experimental electronic producer, originally hailing from Padova, Italy, guides listeners through an arresting labyrinth of abstract noise and industrial glitch on this 11-track offering for Barcelona’s Evel imprint.
The opening track, “neiru-sr488,” buzzes with scrapes and mechanical abrasion, launching into a taut, kinetic rhythm—part machine malfunction, part dancefloor spark. “777elat” follows with a subtle phasing pulse, nudging the momentum forward like a magnet pulling signal through static.
Simioni excels in micro-detail—each scraped edge and fragmented pulse feels mined from some alien rhythm archive. On “etf54 vlp,” ritualistic percussive fragments dissolve mid-pattern, while “aualo=0” spasms with glitchy convulsions, flickering through strobing grooves that refuse to settle.
Closing pair “isene” and “xylic” feel like reflections bent through opposing prisms—ruptured, charred, and electrically charged, skipping forward with wild intent. The entire release unspools as a study in sonic erosion: warped forms blasted at their seams yet retaining an unshakable density—mysterious, broken, and fiercely intact.
