Marco Simioni :: Genetix EP (Kaer’Uiks)

Numerous sonic excursions exist, and it seems certain that Marco Simioni will not only deliver the goods but also develop and unfold them into uncharted terrain.

An overarching voyage

Numerous sonic excursions exist, and it seems certain that Marco Simioni will not only deliver the goods but also develop and unfold them into uncharted terrain. With Genetix, a five-track extended player, Simioni adds more layers while still extracting all the finer elements we’ve come to expect from such a talented sound sculptor.

While the atmospheric version of “Genetix (Strand Extraction Mix)” draws from its melodic webs and soundtrack dynamics for an overarching voyage, the sharp techno extrusions on opening piece “Genetix (Genome Remodel Mix)” elevates itself through minimal acid tinges and keep its microscopic details in check. Simioni’s remix of Aseq’s “Imprint” is an intense and dreamy assault that spans over eight minutes of fast-paced electrical conduits and acid scribbling. The closing track, “Infinite Loop Wormholes,” completes the experience with synthesized ambient threads and detuned mechanics as it eerily lifts off into outer space. “Tesla” bends and twists in an unusual fashion, its fidgeting rhythm and shuffling beatwork eventually breaking down into an ambient foray tucked in between its beautiful chaos. Utter bliss.
