As with every trip into outer and inner places, there is much to ruminate on here after the return home. Further sessions haven’t proved to exhaust what is opened up here, but have only served to expose the many doors along the cobwebbed corridor where one can be drawn into further phantasmal realms.

Ümlaut :: Un Être Humain Ordinaire (Audiobulb)
Sounds puncture space, and things float to the surface. It’s just another ordinary day for being human and listening to music when the smallest detail might make the biggest waves.
Dött Ljus :: Bottna (Slowcraft)
A successful and continuously pleasant album that pushes the senses with its serene atmosphere. Imagine an impossible meeting between Farben, Thomas Brinkmann, Purl, Mind over MIDI, Mike Slott, and Malmö; but also with an avenue to experiment within a handful of bright, flourishing and drifting ideas.
Ben Lukas Boysen :: Alta Ripa (Erased Tapes)
Boysen, in sum, steers these definitive high-level productions as some of the finest on the planet. Creating an engrossing auditory experience of controlled chaos, Alta Ripa transports entangled technoid versus atmospheric coordinates that simply do not hold back.
Luca Bevacqua :: Alpi Graie e Pennine EP (Detroit Underground)
Both subtle and saturated with distilled microsound layers, Alpi Graie e Pennine is simply otherworldly and comes highly recommended.
Yair Elazar Glotman & Mats Erlandsson :: Glory Fades (XKatedral)
All in all, a shimmering, beautiful, bold, nostalgic and carefully crafted ambient album that will also please fans of classical minimalism (Lou Harrisson, John Luther Adams), Steve Tibbetts’ Northern Song, as well as Appalachian / primitive guitar soundscapes with an experimental and soothing atmospheric tendency.
Wil Bolton :: South of the Lake (quiet details)
Warmly recommended for those who are into textural, timbral, sculpted, and discreetly melodic minimal ambient works forged by Harold Budd, Robert Rich, Vidna Obmana, and […]
Liam Kramer-White & Sun Yizhou :: Technically incorrect
Factory Label Shipping Express is an album released at the end of 2024 by Sun Yizhou and Liam Kramer-White. Sun Yizhou is a Beijing-based experimental musician who also runs the Aloe label. Liam Kramer-White (Beige, LMFAO, Winter’s Treasures, B33N) currently lives in Philadelphia and runs the Phons label. Factory Label Shipping Express is the first album they made together, via an exchange of emails and sound files, based on phone recordings.
Phillip Golub :: Loop 7 (greyfade)
With its emphasis on subtle variation and harmonic innovation, Loop 7 is a compelling listen for fans of experimental music and microtonal compositions, inviting deeper engagement with every spin. This is a standout release for both Golub and Greyfade.
V/A :: Sampler IV (Facade Electronics)
Northern Mexico’s Facade Electronics’ annual compilation titled Sampler IV (aka Sampler IV. Present and future. Facade Electronics 2020-2025) shifts into their fourth of the series, representing fourteen tracks that spark and shimmer at all the right angles.
Bernhard Living :: Technological Lessness
Upon listening to Bernhard Living’s output, the music is extremely minimalistic and doesn’t actively try to be challenging in some way; so with how little there is that’s happening, I immediately knew that this was coming from someone who knew what they were doing.
