Exploring the shining transcendental ego absorbed by transportive sound motifs and by a kaleidoscope of spiritual colors.
An immersion in sensitive moments of deep pensiveness
sevensy is the project of sound producer Austin Brooks who released his entire music catalog on the indie label Mahorka—active in the defense of ambient-drone music and downtempo electronica with an experimental edge and countless top projects such as Oberlin, Cognition Delay, Plurals, and Internal Fusion, to name a few. I discovered sevensy when my music was signed by the label a few years ago.
This project carries on a stylistic path borrowed by traditional space ambient and soothing meditative music with additional hypnotic grooves and melodious languid dreamscapes. Once more, and relatively close to adjacent albums, one2one is an immersion in sensitive moments of deep pensiveness, exploring the shining transcendental ego absorbed by transportive sound motifs and by a kaleidoscope of spiritual colors. If you are mentally disposed to welcome slow-motion sound waves, tiny poet green-field sceneries, and softly-swelling synthadelic vibes, this album will gently lead you to some beautiful imaginary gardens to rest and meditate.
Tape loop techniques ::
Some tape loop techniques also seem to infuse the album as in the blurred out “early lucidity,” and the almost new-wave and heavily retro-ish Berlinesque synthesized epilog “Matinicius waves into silence” closes the album in a bath of sinuous and foreboding astral frequencies abruptly cut by a palette of piano touches, then cascading electronic hypnotic pulses. one2one is an eclectic soundscaping album with a taste for emotional introspection.
Fans of Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Yoshimura’s impressionist electronic peacefulness, spacious-sonorous dronescapes of Alio Die & Dirk Serries, Forest Fang, and modern-day floating ambient digitalism of Amulets, The Green Kingdom, and Voel; will find a blissful musical experience to fall in love with.
