Dayin :: Meditations on Forgetting (Mahorka)

Meditations on Forgetting offers expansive, sorrowful ambient landscapes filled with granular noises, fluid droning electric tones, and synthetic oceanic waves.

Dayin is a Bulgarian based drone and experimental project formed by Angel Simitchiev. In a relative discretion, a number of releases have been published for indie DIY labels with larger views on challenging music and deep reflective home listening tendencies. After a remarkable and emotionally overwhelming album published on Mahorka back in 2023—titled Warm Like Crystal Throats—the project is back with a subtly moving and heart touching melancholic ambient-infused album titled Meditations on Forgetting—once more welcome by the genuinely active Mahorka—and delivered as a limited tape edition.

This album offers expansive, sorrowful ambient landscapes filled with granular noises, fluid droning electric tones, and synthetic oceanic waves. You stand before an endless sea, perhaps of souvenirs, regrets, or shattered memories. In a state of poetic awe, the music unfolds a gallery of delicate sounds and winding textures, guiding you into a profound stillness. Here, you search for the deeper emotions hidden in the shadowed corners of your consciousness. Meditations on Forgetting also develops an inner developmental potential and medicative function due to the unbroken chain of gracious, ethereal, breathing, blurry sounding waves, and crystalline reflections of metaphysical quality.

Introspection, vulnerability, but also inner stillness are feelings almost tangible in this body of quiet soundscapes. If you are into spiritually nurturing slowcore ambient albums by Loscil, Amulets, Sulk Room, A Home for Ghosts, Rosy Parlane, Mark Templeton, Music for Sleep; this album comes highly recommended. An emotional delight in moody-esque slow motion ascent.
