L.iet & Kurt Bogenholtz is the side project of the post-techno IDM ambient producer Michael Belletz (from Mnemonic) and Kurt Bogenholt in this first opus signed on HalbsichtTonträger (Pleq, Mnemonic, Architrav et al). The duo offers a distinctive, complex and neuro-electronic sounding alchemy where micro-sonic percolation meets hauntingly moving droney fragments. The general mood and sensory environment is incredibly sonorous and immersive, playing with large echoing spaces and tense isolationist events.

Generated by digital equipments and various electroacoustic simulators, the ensemble play with the plasticity and flexibility of sound spectrum, partly enveloping, amorphous, fractal or fluxuous. An interesting conceptual exercise on the physical property of sound cells. Very experimental, paradigmatic and enigmatic the sinuous, kinetic and accidental sound waves invites the listener into a strange sci-fi, cyber-like computerized universe. kurzwellengericht is a cryptic, ambitious and not that accessible type of work which subverts traditional electronic music boundaries to create a complete world of minimal-futuristic soundscapes. A toxic, anxious and darkly menacing soundtracky post-human atmosphere prevails all along the album.

Some tracks such as the opening piece and “Bandbreite” are incredibly obsessive, cerebrally tripped-out and playfully haunting. A really enjoyable post-structural abstract minimal ambient work whose originality and sense of experimentalism is of a strong interest for listeners of pioneering materials by Conrad Schnitzler, Asmus Tietchens, Monoton, Nik Raicevic among others.

kurzwellengericht is available on Halbsicht.
