Analog soundscraping noise cemented by fractured industrial tropes is par for the course, and yet the duo from Northern Komi lands (ködzid goo) and Southern Ukraine (kojoohar) manage to create molten lava flows where abstract downtempo hip-hop is ravaged by atmospheric mechanical warfare.
By pushing and pulling on a vast tapestry of textured noises and glittery soundscapes, the exploratory nature of this album is offset by its attention to nuanced, imprecise and sparkling electronic flutter.
Each piece contains enough content and creative fuel to keep our attention zoned in while shards of electro, breaks, and technoid forms are exposed with jazzier outer layers.
Fxbip shatters preconceived notions of nonsensical experimentation and instead focuses on unique (even if a bit turbulent) concrete sound collages that bend, flex, and splinter with a punctuated sheen.
Darker strands mix with lightened pitter-patter tones that simply fade away. These unusually magnetic sonic traverses detail organic, nostalgic, and atmospheric forays that should be absorbed as a whole to even begin to capture its aural glow.
There are beautiful lines of haunting otherworldly melodies woven throughout some of the rhythmic fortresses, making this a very re-listenable release with a variety of moods and vibes.
On IMMI, the ominous mood is offset by ricocheting beatwork and breakbeat impulses that never outstay their welcome.
Each piece an ebb and flow connected by atmospheric notes, drones, and extended waves. Creating a dreamlike soundscape—a place to drift away to—Rudy Adrian carves a serene landscape of dust, debris and delicate structure.
A well rounded, well produced and very subtle melodic interval, drifting from quiet scenes of snow falling minimal synthetic leads to some of my favourite lo-fi, imperfect sound effects and noise ridden atmospheres.
Swelling strings and a meditative piano line play out the end of the release. The stylistic detour into pure-ambient suits Palda’s skills well and overall A Little Tale of Forest Lewis is a soothing, well-crafted listen.
