Calm listening to balance the forces acting on the thermological release of this season; the sound of diamond dust and frozen foggy light, goodness and strength on earth.
Two tracks of delicate listening
Berlin based composer and music producer Jonas Meyer has a new ambient soundscape, compared to some of his other electronic, acoustic, orchestral and experimental projects this one is very minimal, a winter meditation which translates as Shivering and Floating (Schaudern & Schweben) just in time to observe the shortest day and the longest night, two tracks of delicate listening. Shivering (“Schaudern”) is a meditative convocation of shimmering atmospheric tones and color, vibrato dreams; shivering is a vestigial reflex, in response to cold and fear. Floating (“Schweben”) is more minimal, also a beautiful ice painting using metallic reverberations to suggest a buoyant force, activating sheets of glowing copper. This kind of sparse and open poem of ambient sound brings about a relaxed state of mindfulness, calm listening to balance the forces acting on the thermological release of this season; the sound of diamond dust and frozen foggy light, goodness and strength on earth.
Jonas Meyer’s portfolio includes a diverse collection of theater works, as well as soundtracks for films. Musical performance projects include Holographic Field, a solo project 2015; LMP; Frames; Unland; and Cordial, which is an improvisational trio including a visual artist. Konfusion is the debut album, a collection of pulsing, shimmering electro-acoustic pieces, also Holographic Field; This Side of Tomorrow; and Lost Tribe Sound.
