The second full-length album by apaull, Homogeny, delves into a diverse array of driving, bass-heavy techno and glitch-infused bleeps. Its pulsating rhythm evokes an uplifting energy, seemingly crafted for 3 a.m. dancefloor shenanigans. Flowing structures interlock seamlessly, pushing the boundaries with manipulated machine drums, distorted synths, and punchy loops that alternate between dark and light.

Raw, hypnotic, and industrial, as the liner notes suggest, tracks like “Entropic” and “LCD” stand out with their saturated bass layers, while the intense pace of “Burn Rate” and the gradually evolving pulse of “Truthahn” deliver the right balance of tension and glitchy intricacies.

Homogeny offers an expansive collection of industrial techno, seamlessly paired with bold, hard-edged tracks like “Distorted Information” and “Anti-Science.” It’s quite a bit to take in, but overall balances itself out among some heavy-hitting synth-techno peaks.
