Subtle Bodies delivers tape music and looped technics at the finest in terms of emotional transportation and spiritual ravishment. The result is tenderly soothing and the defective almost glitch-esque nature of the fragmented piano sequences add an atmosphere of warmth melancholia and sorrowing nostalgia.
These spherical, dub-heavy, technoid soundscapes engulf everything in their path, slowly progressing down various ridges, valleys, and depressions along sloping terrain. Walking through surrounding fog, the throbbing beats and atmospheric textures hypnotize our senses.
Panopticum’s aptly-titled Multisensory Metaphors is a densely-packed EP combining meditative downtempo electronics, glitch, electro, and IDM in beautiful deconstructive patterns.
Jimmy LaValle’s vast experience as a soundtrack composer is deeply expressed on this EP as he masters the art of creating moods through sound that, on the way around, can arouse a vast set of cinematic imagery and, in consequence, blasts of emotion.
More than just a stopgap to chew on while awaiting a new studio album, Future Transmissions stands as an absorbing compilation that perfectly showcases how the band sounds today, proving beyond doubt that it has definitely not lost its special touch.
And like a dream, or the waking dream of creative action and inspiration, the flow state of this album passes by with temporal swiftness. Caught up in the eddies and swirls we are soon down the stream of consciousness and into a calm clear pool.
These multi-talented musicians easily fall into the scope of exp-electronics we embed ourselves within each and every day, while Mitoma’s distinctive remodeling gives these already potent recordings an additional level of reconstruction, or fragments.
Transmission 009 achieves a striking unity of sound across all of its thirteen tracks. This could even all be the work of one artist, but it’s not. While there are differences, the commonalities between these musicians flow together in sequence to create a lush tapestry.
Enabl.ed, however, pushes forward and creates a new chapter for IDM explorations with each piece having its unique sound fragment; punctuating sweet electrical “errors” that are sincerely esoteric and essential.
