Anache plays a lot with each sound he introduces, and instead of striving for some insane out-of-this world timbres like you may sometimes hear in guitar-driven electroacoustics, he focuses more on building with the more subtle tones he’s creating. Layering and constant variation make this a worthwhile LP for fans of atonal electronic music.
The music of John Cage & Earle Brown captures the essence of Cage’s and Brown’s avant-garde philosophies, making it essential for enthusiasts of experimental classical music, and for those that want to tip their toe into exploring the beginnings of electronic music.
The result is more cryptic and hermetic than the previous release with a vast palette of aleatoric sound manipulations and sensient immersion in rituals taken from everyday life.
Upon listening to Bernhard Living’s output, the music is extremely minimalistic and doesn’t actively try to be challenging in some way; so with how little there is that’s happening, I immediately knew that this was coming from someone who knew what they were doing.
The meditative quality of Extended Imposter Syndrome effectively adds a human touch to a collection of static-filled background noises and ultimately is a terrific way to lift your spirits.
Considering the density of each piece, The lady from New York is a surreal, disjointed, yet perplexing album that merits repeated listening to even begin scratching its multi-layered surfaces.
Radio and musique concrète go together like bread and butter. As a medium, radio is the perfect platform for playing tape that has been spliced, diced, smothered, covered, layered, reordered, disordered, composed, decomposed and recomposed. That’s what has happened here with a new version of a mid-sixties John Cage composition, Rozart Mix.
Here Yeh reaches out to touch the synthesizer, approaches it as a kind of ancestral relic for those of us who have succumbed to the love of these machines. Here it is fetishized, stroked, recorded with reverence, only later to be dissected, spliced, and decomposed into its own archival document.
All in all For A Fleeting Moment is a serene minimal lowercase ambient exploration that will ravish followers of zen-inspired ambient aesthetics from classy Japanese sound designers such as Hiroshi Yoshimura and Yoshio Ojima, but also those who come across the production of LINE Records (notably referring to the slow motion sound architectures of Manja Ristić, Richard Chartier, and Olivier Alary.
