Experimental music can mean many things—often tracks are beat-less or off-beat, atonal or noisy, or in some way either more or less dense than other genres. My point is not to establish orthodox genre boundaries.

VAAG :: “Kookoe” video premiere — from the album Perfect Imperfection, Point Source Electronic Arts
Skittering, tumbling beats slip and slide past each other, narrowly avoiding collision in an erratic but choreographed dance. Strange, warbling melodies and crackling electrical discharges […]
Electro-Wired :: The Legacy of Andy Barton, Founder of Bass Agenda
Through the Bass Agenda platform, Barton cultivates a dynamic environment that nurtures creativity and collaboration, serving as the hub for both established and up-and-coming artists.
Music Mondays 011 :: David Sylvian, Gone To Earth
With a brief look at some notables along the road, Chang Terhune’s Music Mondays aims to shed light on both new and old(er) music over a wide spectrum of sound (and vision). This week, David Sylvian.
Poborsk :: Theta Cadence (Kaer’Uiks)
Dark electrical passageways never overstay their welcome, guiding us through deserted corridors that beg you to investigate further.
Sedatic :: Rhea (People Can Listen)
The ten featured tracks contain such a potent barrage of gritty electrical manifests that it’s hard to focus on any one tune without also associating with its neighboring siblings.
Demetrio Cecchitelli :: Unity (ROHS!)
Cecchitelli’s style reminds me a bit of Angelo Badalamenti, a chosen soundtrack composer for David Lynch, among others. It is much like his, but with some Leo Kottke added, with a similar style of guitar melodies.
Fluctuosa & VODOR L ZECK :: SEY-1 (Evel)
Combining a variety of complex rhythmic structures, experimental sounds, intricate melodies, and tracks with subdued musical treats, the collaboration between these two talented musicians speaks volumes.
mōshonsensu :: Even Keel (Touched Music)
The ten tracks on Even Keel, which was published in August 2023, flex and sputter with a somber electronica intensity that skillfully projects early Warp, Rednetic, Toytronic, and Neo Ouija labels’ output.
Ümlaut :: Half the Speed of Light (Self Released)
Jeff Düngfelder (also known as Ümlaut) develops a musique concrète resource and minuscule time-capsules to lose yourself within.
Tarsiform :: Mechanically Reclaimed Pickings (Pingdiscs)
On these jagged aural experiments, scorched percussive rhythms, tangled vocal samples, and braindance components combine and burst leaving us to believe that Tarsiform is an unusual yet creative force to seriously pay attention to.
