Baffling beatwork and blissed-out electrical mayhem make for an odd (yet essential) auditory couplet.
Rhythmic and cacophonous electronics
Pete Jones (aka pq), who has two tracks and just over 10 minutes of music on Adepta Editions’ limited edition 8″ vinyl series, takes obscure braindance components and transforms them into rhythmic and cacophonous electronics. “Framed” on Side A combines early electronic inspirations (see Morton Subotnick, Iannis Zenakis, et al) in a hazy and echoey rendition running through modular blips and distressed bleeps. “Trained” from the B-side shifts through massively processed beats and industrial shadows, its rough and distorted siren crying out to us from a great distance. Baffling beatwork and blissed-out electrical mayhem make for an odd (yet essential) auditory couplet.
