Danny Playamaqui :: AE–08 EP (Adepta Editions) — Video premiere

A varied auditory collection that pulls from all angles, and another one to definitely add to your wax collection.

Danny Playamaqui flexes his sonic muscles with three unique pieces

Danny Playamaqui (aka Barcelona-based Danny G. Perez) has been at his style of abstract electronics for several years with a slew of self-released albums and compilation appearances with notable imprints such as X4, Evel and E.L.M. Collective. Now, with Adepta Editions, one of our favorite outfits that continues to release limited edition vinyl “for electronic/IDM music lovers and collectors,” Danny Playamaqui flexes his sonic muscles with three unique pieces. “Foca” shatters all the rules with spastic techno shards submerged in acidic-breaks that fans of Mouse on Mars and Squarepusher would certainly appreciate. And yet, while you might think this EP would continue in the same trajectory, Danny Playamaqui changes the tempo drastically on the next two offerings to close up AE–08. “Little Fox” transmits the tiniest ambient morsels with exquisite bits and bobs tethered together with a nostalgic flare as “Regular Pace X” drives its groovy downtempo beats and vintage soundscape rhythms that truly stands out, even if it’s only 150-seconds long. A varied auditory collection that pulls from all angles, and another one to definitely add to your wax collection.

AE–08 is available on Adepta Editions May 17, 2023. [Bandcamp]
