Roger van Lunteren :: AE–O6 (Adepta Editions)

A sonic couplet that counterbalance each other from erratic breaks and up-tempo percussion to downtrodden bliss to close it out.

Nostalgic, baffling, and downright funky and crisp

There’s something simply nostalgic, baffling, and downright funky and crisp about AE–O6, a 2-track, limited edition 8″ clear lathe cut vinyl on Adepta Editions. Sure, there are crunchy acid swirls and braindance vibrations cascading from every angle on opener “Opposite Day,” but it’s the flip side’s “The Deep Vein” that keeps this train moving along. The slow-motion groove and old-school technoid feel of “The Deep Vein” and its organic acid drippings, melodic echoes, and rubbery texture are absolutely subtle yet intoxicating. A sonic couplet that counterbalance each other from erratic breaks and up-tempo percussion to downtrodden bliss to close it out. Roger van Lunteren certainly has our attention—with solid releases on 030303, Something Happening Somewhere, and Masa Series, their new account with Adepta Editions is simply stellar.
