Ex Confusion ‘Embrace’

Multi-instrumentalist and sound sculptor Atsuhito Omori has been recently discovered thanks to the publication of two delightful serene ambient opus’ which prefigure the stylistic form and aesthetic intentions delivered in this surprising droning abstract pop release entitled Embrace. In this new effort the micro-variations, the tonal metamorphosis are subtly articulated to slow moving dronescapes. They interact with the hypnotic sound continuum to create a unique and deeply absorbing emotional world. The leading musical argument consists of elaborate sinuous melodies (sensitive piano chords) that embellish a vast array of mantra-like electronic drones. If the sound textures seem to offer an immense feeling of sadness and romantic despair, there is no expression of negative torpor. The whole musical context gives more nuances and introduces positively inspired energies. According to me, this musical soundscaping journey culminates with absolutely luminous and unearthly beatific tracks such as “Sketches for the Truth,” “When I think of you”—such a ravishing purity and emotional ecstasy expressed in fundamental harmonious drone pieces. A radical simplicity hides within incessant complex textures. A colorful approach serves a musical dialogue between tonal statis and shoegaze chilling melodies (ie. “If There Is Love”).

Embrace provides a bunch of delicious musical moments, continuously delicate, soothing and whispering electronica. The melodically powerful sound textures guide the listener to peaceful realms and explore the affective contents of consciousness (musical attempt to evocate the subliminal dimension of human soul). Great representative actor of the tenderly contemplative minimal pop ambient universe next to artists such as Helios, Beneath the Lake, Marsen Jules and Deaf Center. A soulfully expressive, sensual, melancholic and transparent dreamy musical trip. This is meticulously done and the compositional process reintroduces the essence of spirituality into music.

Embrace is available on n5MD.
