Bass-infused dub echoes
Kimi Recor and Francesco Presotto deliver a new collaborative live electronic project, Monotone. Known separately as EX.HALE and SCHNALLO, they’ve joined forces on Call Your Friends, creating deep-dub and downtempo/tribal soundscapes etched through compacted terrain. The duo’s skills at producing expansive and bold electronics treads heavily on bass-infused dub echoes and half-time signatures as hinted in the press release. Ultimately, three distinct tracks engulf the senses including fractured drum’n bass (“PAN”), scorched/eerie rhythms (“H.E.X.”), and ethereal industrial-dub movements (“Echoes”). The EP is quite simply a sonic locomotive that gathers speed while piercing through dense fog in the mid of night—showcasing a powerful set of moody abstracts and massive reverberation.
