Electronics Memoriae II builds on Giano Electronics Vol. 1. New artists-in-arms have been drafted in for their expression of electro as well as members of the established guard. An EP that shines light on the fertile electronic underground in the Italian capital.

Following on from its first compilation, the Giano Electronics collective returns with a new set of Italian electronic enthusiasts. Electronics Memoriae II is just hitting record store shelves, a collection boasting five icy electro cuts to warm the cockles and enflame speaker cables.

Teslasonic gets the show on the road. Igniting floors with his blend of incising beats and smouldering synthwork, Gianluca Bertasi’s “Nebulosa Omega” is a sinister slice. Looming lines lurch above otherworldly strings, a clean drum reining in the rich assortment of sounds. Direct Y is up next with “A Ghost in the Heap.” The co-founder of “Nodezero Electronics” steeps his instruments in an oily syrup before allowing them to emerge with bright beaming keys and tight percussive patterns. Bordering the floor, Fabrizio Rega combines liquid acid with chilly sci-fi effects as eastern overtones surface. Twisthead Groove debuts with the TB303 flexes of “Great Red Spot.” Bending notes are softened by a hazy smoky melody, crisp snares keeping time. Beats are bolstered for Stefano Rocchi’s “Endurance,” globules of bass expanding below skittering hi-hats and crystalline chords. Drawing on old school funk elements, IQbit closes with “The Other Way.” Keys oscillate in playful spikes, sodden machine refrains pierced by 909 lances.
