Experimental Electronic Music
iota was created to be received on several levels, both conceptually and sonically. Various instruments and features of the mix represent spatial locations in an imaginary landscape: ground, horizon, and sky, for example. Experienced in a good listening environment, the listener will imagine distance, elevation, and perhaps even time.
Gentle layers of just a few ingredients are added to other related elements, augmenting each other to showcase a natural magic. These are dreamscapes for rest and recuperation, and I don’t see any error or wrongdoing in them at all.
What makes this different from the other albums by Rudy Adrian is that the amazing musical events are deliberately subtle and soft — and hopefully soothing, without becoming saccharine. The intention is to always ensure that the ingredients are unobtrusive and will allow the listener to fall asleep without encountering music that is dissonant or melodramatic.
The complete pieces are reconstructed settings from a human perspective. In them, you can hear subtle changes, and arguably some development. The album is mainly atmospheric, communicating a wide and subtle range of gloomy impressions and moods.
Deborah Martin & Cheryl Gallagher’s hope is that these musical impressions will take you, the listener, on the same imaginative and magical journey to Tibet that they experienced.
To Sleep On Stellar Winds is an epic space music album with Berlin-school influences that feature unique blends of modular synthesizers and wind instruments, to carry all listeners floating along the cosmic breezes to the outer edges of the universe, and beyond.
Breath shines both as an ambient record and as a blend of both ambient and classical, not solely because of the instrumentation utilized, but also because of these really big powerful climaxes that make up for the record’s most engaging moments.
These transmissions are on just the right frequency for slowing down and finding your own signal in the noise. Comprising of two pulsating long-form pieces it is easy to get lost in these tones that undulate between earth and sky.
Clearly enjoyable for a quiet home listening session on a rainy day, and ultimately a contemplative delight for your daydreaming moments.
Capturing light sources to create calm atmospheres, the featured compositions are as nostalgic as they are contemporary and offer quiet tidbits for a wonderful diversion.
Ethereal and otherworldly, Whispered Hymns’ meditative qualities dabble with the psyche on tracks like “Discoloured Rainbows” and “Deep Crystal Lake,” lulling us into the mystic lights of time as they flow through an endless auditory universe.
