All in all, a shimmering, beautiful, bold, nostalgic and carefully crafted ambient album that will also please fans of classical minimalism (Lou Harrisson, John Luther Adams), Steve Tibbetts’ Northern Song, as well as Appalachian / primitive guitar soundscapes with an experimental and soothing atmospheric tendency.

Irkya :: night flowers EP (Wormhole World)
This EP, which is ultimately calming, contemplative, and spot-on in its sonic approach, is a prelude to an album that we’re pretty excited to hear will (also) be released on Wormhole World in February 2025.
Invictus Hi-Fi :: Appearance EP (Self Released)
Appearance, a five-piece suite that veers into left-field sound structures, sampling, and roughened beats, is the result of 2024 sessions, in which Invictus Hi-Fi used live remixing techniques influenced by dub sound systems to give music from his albums and singles distinctive new dimensions.
Dreamfish :: 90s Classic Resurfaces
Deep, shimmering, imbued with hope and tranquility, but also a certain darkness of the deep preventing any tilt into New Age excess, it mixes several ambient stylings to sonicize various aquatic states and movements.
Teleself :: Eternal Game EP (Appendix.files)
A brief, quietly impacting EP with a heartbeat that makes us feel at ease on these chilly winter days.
Ghostwoods :: Neon Remixed EP (4000 Records)
Listening to Ghostwoods’ Neon Remixed, out on 4000 Records, is a sweet diversion. Each remix is unique to the others, and each is thoughtfully assembled.
Sun Rain :: Mea Culpa EP (Imaginary North)
Gentle layers of just a few ingredients are added to other related elements, augmenting each other to showcase a natural magic. These are dreamscapes for rest and recuperation, and I don’t see any error or wrongdoing in them at all.
Liam Kramer-White & Sun Yizhou :: Technically incorrect
Factory Label Shipping Express is an album released at the end of 2024 by Sun Yizhou and Liam Kramer-White. Sun Yizhou is a Beijing-based experimental musician who also runs the Aloe label. Liam Kramer-White (Beige, LMFAO, Winter’s Treasures, B33N) currently lives in Philadelphia and runs the Phons label. Factory Label Shipping Express is the first album they made together, via an exchange of emails and sound files, based on phone recordings.
Phillip Golub :: Loop 7 (greyfade)
With its emphasis on subtle variation and harmonic innovation, Loop 7 is a compelling listen for fans of experimental music and microtonal compositions, inviting deeper engagement with every spin. This is a standout release for both Golub and Greyfade.
Jon Benderr :: my blurry left eye (Self Released)
Ultimately, my blurry left eye is saturated with color, and also veers off course with braindance and heavier industrial mechanics (“crash-70557”) that effectively highlights Jon Benderr’s wide sonic reach.
Mantle of Gets :: Repr.pn Store (10-17) (Uchelfa)
These gentle, brief, and succinct soundscapes are resonant and melodious as they drift and cascade, enabling Mantle of Gets to deliver a relaxing piano-focused album that simply soothes the senses.
