While continuing the legacy and wholly unique style introduced in Nekkuja and in 2022’s breakthrough Pripyat (both released on PAN), Dja Dja, her first self-released album, sees a much stronger architecture and development: almost double the length of its predecessors, the album is configured as an epic, and directly inspired by the monomyth of the hero’s journey.
Giulio Aldinucci has made an album that seems acquainted with the unnamed part of human nature, the part that surfaces in sleep or in the few seconds before news capable of changing the course of a day.
That Porous Line follows as a deliberate shift—letting in just enough light to see differently without abandoning the dark corners they prefer to inhabit.
Maps and Diagrams’ music drifts like sunlight through a forest canopy, slow, dreamy, and richly layered with acoustic textures that evoke the spirit of each tree it’s named after, from oak to cedar, inviting the listener to float, ponder, and perhaps even dream alongside the trees themselves.
