Blatant bleeps and silky synths
Der Wil, a swift four-tracker by Wilder Gonzales Agreda, features blatant bleeps and silky synths strewn all over the floor. The title track, which displays gently sprinkled laser blasts, develops flawlessly. Conversely, “Fuera darki ñosos de la movida avant shoegaze experimental” begins with a crunch and staccato beat, along with extended video game motifs and mechanical devices accompanied by Spanish vocals and an acidic ending. Closing track “Fase Pura” (at a lengthy twenty-one minutes) takes us on a sophisticated ambient-synth voyage that ebbs and flows with minimal oscillations and gradually fades into oblivion. “Cielo Azul,” another sci-fi electronica artifact, feels buried deep within an old Atari 2600 unit left unchecked. Der Wil is a clever experimental release transporting us to an earlier time—think of Kracfive-era music from Proswell, Colongib, and Octopus Inc—minus the extraneous vocals.
