Pain and Power on Amek Collective, is the second Bulgarian musicians’ collaborative album. With “One Thousand Years'” emotive echo-drones looping endlessly, the track drifts as momentum continues on “When Dying.” Evocative and reflective soundscapes become more complex as the album moves forward. While the iciness of “Theory of War” chisels its way through the earth with prolonged vibration, “Unblooming” takes inspiration from its siblings but throws deeper shadows for us to sift through. The closing tracks “Light Barrier” and “Soft Pressure” cultivate lighter tones and textures, yet they still develop into synth implosions with highly processed and stretched guitar elements.
