A heady collision that surges like lightning through your veins—where rhythm dances with melody in a wild embrace of goosebumps and sublime disorder—Slow Crunch awakens. The alias of Perm-based artist Pavel Fedoseev, KIKOK draws from his native Komi-Permyak tongue: Ki meaning “hand” and Kok meaning “foot“—a poetic tribute to movement and expression, perfectly suited for Slow Crunch, his latest foray through shoegaze and breakbeat. The album was mixed and mastered by Kostya Kokokei, co-founder and creative visionary of Mestnost.

These tracks are immersive and dreamlike, swirling in the reverb-soaked melancholy of the Manchester sound, where spectral melodies and basslines drift and disappear like fog. Faint echoes appear from yesteryear—not imitations—of visionaries like Ulrich Schnauss, Plone, B. Fleischmann, Tycho, Manual, and strands from My Bloody Valentine.
Among the highlights, “Lovely Grinch” stands luminous, a celestial rush of ethereal breaks laced with ghostly vocals, while opener “Enigma” unfolds like a soft explosion—noise-drenched, blissed out, and rich with shoegaze textures and trip-hop rhythms with surreal vocal treatments. But Slow Crunch doesn’t rest in nostalgia. It evolves, combusts, and reshapes itself as Gnoomes, Ambidextrous, Alina Valentina, Lyudmila Severtseva, DJ HeadSick, Overlone, and Anderdog inject their own magic. Their remixes push the boundaries, spanning acid-drenched dance floors and bedroom environments, cerebral bass-infused braindance, shadowy techno, ambient-electronic layers, and kinetic drums, transforming this extended player into a full-spectrum album experience.
