Barking :: Barking (brokntoys)

Barking provides ample amounts of acid, braindance, and technoid fissures to keep us chilled as these downtempo analog tracks take over.

Sonic organisms expand and contract

Smudged electronics and synthesizer bliss, Barking provides ample amounts of acid, braindance, and technoid fissures to keep us chilled as these downtempo analog tracks take over. And yet, as this album continues, one can find industrial slabs being altered, disfigured, and broken into hundreds of pieces. There’s such a simple, yet powerful rhythm throughout these pieces—each one so vividly alive and coming to life—that its sonic organisms expand and contract before our very eyes and ears. Barking takes their sound to the outermost (hardened) edges that are left as-is and un-sanded. Not a dud to be found, sporadic blips and bleeps bounce from all corners; bass thuds and an electro versus slow-motion breaks vibration surrounds each of its seven cuts. Solid all the way through, Barking does just what it set out to do on this eponymous release. Simply baffling.
