A record that once again proves the dynamism of early techno and never die attitude of the TB303.
Reviews
SIMM :: Too Late To Dream (Ohm Resistance)
A subtly extreme culmination of sandblasted dub extracts and tempered downtempo slices.
Tescon Pol :: Object or Entity EP (Self Released)
Mic Finger and Ariel Johannessen (aka Tescon Pol) continue to muster abstract yet surreal electronics as Object or Entity further defines their broken rhythmic sputter to a tee.
Stephen Hummel :: Component (Self Released)
Built from a smorgasbord of components, these six tracks expand and contract to form visceral electronic mayhem with very little breathing room.
Nexcyia :: Heading Into The Ocean With Tearful Eyes (Self Released)
Working with found sound, Nexcyia weaves together harsh sound design and swooping soundscapes into works that bridge many moods.
🛸 (X4)
There is something for everyone: acid, braindance, experimental electronics, IDM—even some slightly more downtempo numbers too.
(Front) 242 :: Live Code (1994) (Play It Again Sam)
This show embodies their moodiest and darkest sounds of their late 80s and early 90s classics using true to period instruments to pound out the beats. Loaded with organic sounds and analog vocal effects that mesh perfectly with their electronic gear.
Ariadne’s Labyrinth :: Ridiom EP (Self Released)
The London based artist rounds off the year with an exemplary self-released 4-track titled Ridiom. Infusing influences from the likes of early Warp and Rephlex into a classical array of layered spontaneity and detailed composition.
Fortresses :: “Spring” (Dragon’s Eye)
This 8-minute single is beautifully crafted, subtly choreographed with an elegance that is both uplifting and mesmerizing.
Marco Simioni & Mattia Saviolo :: Zeitgeist: Ambient Music from 2012 to 2020 (Force Inc. / Mille Plateaux)
What is the real appeal here though, is the conviction in the use of tempo and pace, as to not get too carried away with the under current of bass and bleeps that is within some of these ambient compositions.
Quizzik :: Simulacrum EP (6 Plusten)
Whilst Quizzik is certainly not new to the music world, their take on experimental electronic music is creating encouraging foundations for future releases.
