Part Timer :: Isolation EP (Self Released)

It’s incredibly difficult not to get nostalgic when listening to Part Timer, whatever he does, however he does it. He somehow manages to elicit real and emotional, vivid technicolor memories of the past—and they’re all good memories, too.

Elegantly moving music from Australia

Part Timer is back, again, making him something of a Full Timer this year. However, I for one am certainly not complaining about more elegantly moving music from Australia’s John McCaffrey.

Like his previous release, the five pieces on this EP are all fairly short but beautifully conceptualized and rich in tone and depth. It’s actually hard to accept, at times, that the pieces are so short, simply because there’s so much beauty in them. So much music in them, and so much detail.

I like to think of myself as a futurist, I’ve often told people not to get drunk on nostalgia, it’s not good for you. However, it’s incredibly difficult not to get nostalgic when listening to Part Timer, whatever he does, however he does it. He somehow manages to elicit real and emotional, vivid technicolor memories of the past—and they’re all good memories, too. The sort of stuff that can’t help but bring a smile to your face. “With a Whisper” actually gives me goosebumps, and that’s so rare for music to do that for me now.

A truly delightful EP

Isolation is available on Bandcamp.
