There’s a gritty and nostalgic flare surrounding inurmaul by Cuadroped; downtempo beatwork rolled up into bite size tracks ranging from 60 to 150 seconds is no ordinary feat. In these brisk audible fractures, Cuadroped delivers textured technoid veils (“calygadala”) to more Teebs vs Tycho streams (“youligy.”) As inurmaul cuts through sparse breaks versus synthesizer noodling, the EP peaks via “kitkatatonik;” its sun-soaked rhythmic blur is sublime. And yet, what makes these fleeting tracks so unique and alluring are the medium octane dub-techno strands floating through tracks like “100 spokes” and “conejito/cohete.” These two pieces alone have us scratching our heads at how much could be packed into five (combined) minutes—it’s astounding. Closing tracks “ferahl” and “ag101” deliver funk-beat acid washes and skittering electrical mayhem, respectively, allowing the artist to somehow flex their sonic muscles in the shortest possible time window.
