Kangding Ray's Raster-Noton Renewal

News of an album impending from Kangding Ray for gratifyingly still fertile and thriving minimal electronica label, Raster-NotonCory Arcane will be the fifth by David Letellier for the crack Chemnitz post-techno team since it began its association with the French producer with Stabil (2006), with Automne Fold (2008), Or (2011) and Solens Arc (2014) following. Cory Arcane is full of intriguing compositions characterized by Letellier’s intricate percussive programming, textural invention, and deep-buried melodies, fitting comfortably into the Raster-Noton aesthetic, while retaining his own idiosyncratic voice.

The press release comes with an essay by the artist describing, one presumes, the eponymous character: “Cory Arcane found her comfort zone in a constant state of crisis, and her liberation through love, sensuality, and high-speed internet access… Her emancipation was surely marked by different forms of excess: the inappropriate use of fireworks, the consumption of large quantities of alcohol and controlled substances, as well as the occasional blasts of kitchen appliances.”

Comes with curious cover artwork by Marina Minibaeva, with tasty trailers for two tracks below.

Cory Arcane is out on Raster-Noton on CD and digital on October 30th, double vinyl in November.
