ZEROTWO is Black Shapes’ second statement—a tightly engineered techno EP where four distinct voices sculpt smoke-drenched, late-night architectures of tension and release, balancing ferocity and control inside a fully immersive, hallucinatory soundspace.

ZEROTWO is the second release from Italian techno label Black Shapes, showcasing immersive and meticulously crafted electronic soundscapes. Opening the EP, Blacksun’s “Ultracritical” ignites dense, smoke-filled atmospheres at 4 a.m. Its driving 4/4 pulse loops and circles back on itself, translating acid aesthetics into a hypnotic flow that commands both body and space. The track is relentless yet measured, building tension and release with precision while keeping the energy contained within its immersive architecture.

ØSC’s “Legions Foggy” drifts through deep, shipwrecked textures, a journey across an imagined space as the soundsystem pulses with controlled hysteria. Dub-inspired pyrotechnics, sudden drops, and jagged starts traverse the sonic environment, chasing extremes of kinetic abandon while exploring tension and release. Chaos and structure balance, producing a frenzied intensity that engages the imagination and invites total immersion.

Tayoema’s “No Source Code” cuts sharply, combining remorseless beats with Armenian circus bells (sic) that traverse stereo peaks and troughs at dizzying heights. Ride cymbals and clattering tin-pan percussion execute a Millsian tarr-and-parry, manipulating tension and release while pulling every breath from the imagined space. Where rhythm strikes like lightning cutting through a suspended metallic air.

Closing the EP, Yujinn’s “Clasm” paints a carefully textured sonic canvas. Lilting percussion, mood pads, and sweeping filters conjure psychotropic silvers, greys, blacks, and whites, no colors, full-on tones, untied yet tactile, riotous yet meditative. Each layer functions like a colored metalbox, shifting texture and tone across the imagined space. Tambourine, filtered drones, and cascading echoes build a subtle tension, allowing the EP to exhale while sustaining its immersive, hallucinatory energy.
