Sounds dedicated to discovery and sharing

A new immersion in sounds dedicated to discovery and sharing is planned for the weekend of 2 and 3 August in the spaces of the Agriturismo San Giuseppe (between Corato and Andria, at the foot of the Alta Murgia National Park with a view of Castel del Monte) home of the second edition of Secolare Festival, an event conceived and organized by Spore Società Cooperativa and promoted by the Puglia Region, Department of Tourism with Puglia Promozione and Teatro Pubblico Pugliese in collaboration with Pro Loco Quadratum and with the patronage of the Municipality of Corato, Gal Castel Del Monte, Alta Murgia National Park, UNPLI Puglia.

Secolare Festival is a unique event, in terms of artistic proposal and accessibility of costs within the Apulian and Italian festival panorama, making a quality international musical proposal accessible to a large audience in the territory of the Alta Murgia National Park. At the Secolare Festival, music of the most disparate genres and idioms becomes a glue between art and territory to mend a relationship between man and nature which sees the former within it in a respectful presence, both environment and history that encloses. “Secular,” therefore, like olive trees and oaks, but also like human rituals of which music is among the oldest forms. From the afternoon until the night, thus, immersed like territory with a strong identity and rich in human and natural heritage, some of the most interesting international musical groups from different corners of the world will perform: Timber Timbre (CAN), Alabaster DePlume ( UK), Rival Consoles (UK), Lalalar (TUR), Richard Dawson (UK), Paolo Angeli (ITA), Sanam (LIB), NAH (USA), Couchgagzzz (ITA), Magpies (ITA), Grecale+Simplyluigi ( ITA), Hambone (ITA), Cloud Danko (ITA), Club Mediterraneo (ITA), Cassette PM (ITA) and Vinxanity (ITA).

Secolare Festival offers a quality international and local musical offering at affordable prices and the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere by taking advantage of a private area to camp freely a stone’s throw from the concert area.

During Day 1, Friday 2 August: Alabaster DePlume, musician, poet and activist born in Manchester, capable of creating unexpected and profound links between genres such as afro-funk, will take turns on the Castello Stage (the main stage of the festival), soul and jazz, outlining unique symphonies that transform every single live event into an ever-changing, magical and unrepeatable event; Lalalar, the perfect embodiment of the effervescent Istanbul underground scene which makes the explosive energy released in live performances its trademark; Paolo Angeli, who with his guitar-orchestra leads the audience into avant-garde music with a Mediterranean flavor, the result of meticulous thirty-year research work; Sanam, Lebanese super band, a real kaleidoscope of influences and genres: from a post-folk attitude to kraut rock echoes, with a typical free jazz approach to composition for an intense and enthralling live performance; Grecale + semplicementeluigi, together in their common singer-songwriter vision, intimate and evocative, plucked strings and small beats on tiptoe; and Hambone, an avant jazz project with a rich, full-bodied, mellow sound, an explosion of dynamics with the maturity of a big band.

Saturday 3 August will be the turn of Day 2 with Taylor Kirk’ss Timber Timbre, a Canadian band that in almost 20 years of career and 7 albums, has cradled us with psychedelic and cinematic ballads, imbued with Morriconian echoes and warm folk notes, instant classics that have entered the soundtracks of our lives; Rival Consoles, aka Ryan Lee West, a native of Leicester but an active member of the thriving community of London electro artists, for an act that moves between dancefloor instinct and warm and ethereal synthetic structures; Richard Dawson and his ancestral, alien, experimental songwriting, with simple melodic lines but full of tempo changes, daring associations and words capable of telling an increasingly indecipherable reality; NAH, percussionist and fine manipulator of sounds who conveys different genres and styles such as techno, hip hop, electronic and jazz into a kaleidoscopic sound with enthralling rhythms; Couchgagzzz, a quartet from Bari inspired by Australian rock’n’roll, author of electric and fast songs suitable for the most sporty mosh pit; and the Magpies with their visionary and magnetic alternative rock: a punk esprit, alternating with waltzes, ballads and dark lullabies, in a psychedelic mixture with a high dreamlike potential.

Both evenings will open and close with two DJ sets in the Bosco stage, the small stage inside the camping area: on August 2nd Vinxanity opens with its world selection from every corner of the globe, and Cloud Danko closes with a travel 100% in vinyl between Spiritual Jazz, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop and Afrobeat rhythms; while the opening of the final evening will be entrusted to Cassette PM with his listening DJ set made of tapes, Walkman and hiss on the border between dream and reality; closing Club Mediterraneo: warm sound and southern rhythms for a set to dance until late at night.
