Proper Line pull all the stops

They’re back! Proper Line have administered a second dosage, increased to 300mg (the second compilation series), titled Cheers from Italy. The meds this time are sliced and diced within ten unique pieces of braindance, articulated electronics, breaks and baffled rhythms. There are some definite standouts including the rave breaks’n bass emotive draw of Uncrat’s “Yust” that takes us straight into the mid-90s, while Lucretio’s glitch’n bleeps track “Elzed” submerges itself in ultra low-end rumbling.

And yet, with all the sound shapes and scraping fizz-fuzz from end to end, opener “LSWR” by AFM takes the proverbial cake; its spastic beauty, funk, electro, and vocal samples are utterly contagious and such a powerful electronic whiplash for the senses.

Proper Line pull all the stops with noisier pieces like “Altered Breaks” by Giorgio Sancristoforo and bubbling hypnotic braindance courtesy of Train To Eltanin on “PM3.” The sheer avalanche of electrical data streams continue to push boundaries on this compilation. Jfrank offers the synth wiggling funk on “Tip Of The Iceberg” as minimal pitter-patter beats shuffle with fidgety breaks on Errori In Partitura’s “Zone Out.” The kaleidoscopic drum’n bass finagling of Da’wei’s “Reentry Pod,” Ascion’s heavy hitting drums on “C.I.A.O.,” and Caramel Chameleon’s 100mph acid-infestation on “Papasoot” rounds out an impacted release that keeps the listener on their feet.
