Mathias Villard is a very promising sound artist and Past Radiance can easily figure among my top favorite albums for this year. Exquisite, wistful, cinematic, alluring and emotionally transportive. For fans of Alessandro Cortini, Bvdub, Loscil, Markus Fjellström and Terence Hannum. Once more, Affin proves to be in the first league concerning modern-day ambient-lush drone music.

Jessica Roch :: Human Music: Live Improvisations I (Past Inside the Present)
Human Music: Live Improvisations I serves as both a statement and a philosophy. What I hear is a collection of live performance recordings, each about 6-7 minutes long, one player/performer using layers and loop technology to play many instruments at once in a live setting, creating classical flavored music improvisations and instrumental expressions with haunting vocals that are entirely without word content, just emotional tones that bend and transmit.
S. Salter :: Ara EP (Plusha)
Ara is a three-track 8-minute mini-EP that spans a wide emotional and sonic range across three compositions, illustrating S. Salter’s evolving language of composition, which is detailed, emotive, and increasingly expansive in scope.
RL Huber :: Sea Legs (Self Released)
RL Huber of Eureka Springs, Arkansas has an orchestral sound, with abundant strings and pianos, and a classical-drone crossover feeling that is complex and subtle.
elsas :: APORIAMOR EP (Lapsus)
APORIAMOR finds elsas turning heartbreak into a restless, exploratory EP that searches for healing without losing its sense of wonder.
Jean-Luc Guionnet with Ensemble Onceim & Motus :: Tournures Cessent / Orchestrales (Aposiopèse)
Fans of free improvisation, intuitive music, and the European tradition of avant art music will find much to enjoy on this endlessly twisting abstract headscratcher. It is like a puzzle that can only be solved when I stop trying.
T.R. Jordan :: Dwell Time II (Past Inside the Present)
There are many things hidden in these low dwelling clouds, complex tiny voices and bits of music with overlays of curved drone-like sustained tones that are overall positive and uplifting.
Ars Dada :: Between Poetry and Catastrophe (Concrete Collage)
A surprising and uncompromising project with intricate arrangements, nuance, and grandeur.
NOT_MDK :: The 140 Album (Wémè)
For this renaissance name, the style has changed: Steady 70/140BPM grime beats now meet IDM and evocative breaks.
Less Bells :: “Feral Ghosts Of The Golden West” video premiere from The Drowned Ground (Meadows Heavy)
The 3d release from Less Bells invites the listener on a tour of deep time, wind mountain villages, secret caverns and Victorian parlors.
bvdub :: A History of Distance (n5MD)
Van Wey is able to take themes and stretch them until they are a fine thread, weaving so slowly and smoothly that actual minutes pass […]
