For this renaissance name, the style has changed: Steady 70/140BPM grime beats now meet IDM and evocative breaks.
A top-tier gem-riddled release
MDK (aka Martin Wood-Mitrovski) used to be a member of the Spymania crew in the late 90’s amongst which the likes of Squarepusher, Jamie Lidell or himself notoriously released many tracks by various names. You may also know him as Elton Fastbrook from the classic Mealtime compilation released by Planet Mu or from his various appearances on Mille Plateaux, Leaf and more. A long hiatus later, you can see him resurface for a breakbeat-driven EP on Wémè in 2007 and dropping nasty acid dance tracks on Pr0k Records in 2016 & 2017.
But enough of that. Time to wipe the slate clean! This is NOT_MDK we’re talking about now. And for this renaissance name, the style has changed: Steady 70/140BPM grime beats now meet IDM and evocative breaks. To be fair, the change is startling and for all we hear, this could definitely be someone else. Don’t call it a comeback, NOT_MDK feels like a new jack starting afresh and this is again a top-tier gem-riddled release for Belgium’s Wémè label to add to their already impressive catalog. Highly recommended!
