To learn more about the process and inspiration behind this stunning new work, we asked Jason five questions—diving into his influences, creative approach, and the sonic evolution that led to Inherent.

Zyxt :: Welter EP (Self Released)
Clocking in at just fifteen minutes, this collection is brief but immersive—a noir-electronic excursion that channels the abstract ethos of Lytle’s earlier work, now buffed and refined for contemporary ears.
Vague Lanes :: Divergence And Declaration (Viasonde / Swiss Dark Nights)
The second coming of Vague Lanes (aka Mike Cadoo and Badger McInnes) comes as a moody, dark, and also insanely catchy collection of darkwave tunes. The group nails the one thing I always appreciate when listening to music: the foundations. If your grooves aren’t solid, there’s a good chance the music is going to fall flat.
Loess :: Battens (n5MD) — Exclusive full album stream!
Battens envelops the listener in a grayscale world, one that is cold yet somehow comforting, like the stark beauty of an overcast November afternoon.
Igloo Magazine :: Best of 2024
Highlighting hundreds of releases in 2024 (and allowing December to set in), we’ve compiled a list of our favorites along with links to their corresponding Igloo reviews and release pages. Since the lists are arranged alphabetically by artist—and a snapshot of tracks are featured in our Soundcloud playlist along with selected Bandcamp tracks and random artwork selections—there are, as usual, no winners or runners-up.
Suumhow :: A world of errors and glitches
“Suumhow is what happens when two childhood friends who discovered electronic music together in their teens and then reunite 20 years later.” On the heels of their 5th album, appropriately titled 5ilth—available on n5MD October 25, 2024—Suumhow took some time out of their schedule to discuss the good old days of IDM, their backgrounds, processes, and beautifully choreographed sonic glitches.
Ocoeur :: Breath (n5MD)
Breath shines both as an ambient record and as a blend of both ambient and classical, not solely because of the instrumentation utilized, but also because of these really big powerful climaxes that make up for the record’s most engaging moments.
M.Cadoo & P.Stephan :: Pang of Being (Self Released)
But it’s not all splatter. Soaring synths pierce the darkness with moments of light reminding me to look for that light, follow it down the tracks even as metallic crashes continue to cascade into crumbling piles of rust.
Dalot :: Aquarium (Same Difference Music)
I am carried about on the circularly flowing strings within dim and transparent emerging elements and an odd mixture of electronic textures, granular and glitchy, and decorated with humorous abrupt collages.
Gridlock :: The Synthetic Form (Remaster/Reissue) (Viasonde)
The music of The Synthetic Form belies a humanity in its inception that gives it a timeless, powerful sound.
ILUITEQ + Lorenzo Montanà :: Katà Métron (n5MD)
Katà Métron skillfully develops and reinforces the suggested objective of “living in harmony with oneself and nature,” a powerfully serene soundtrack we should all take notice of, and a surrounding sonic highlight for 2024.
