Signals in the Static unfolds like a woven sonic blanket, warm and enveloping, as celestial voices drift, synths sway, and surreal blooms of ambient flutter shift and reshape across twelve pieces that feel more like soundtracks to life than a collection of tracks simply packaged together.
Two decades removed from the clockwork IDM of Polytuft-Tech, Tim Martin’s returning light (Home Normal) and beneath still stars (handstitched*) find him stripping everything back to drift, texture, and quietly resonant melody, resulting in two companion albums that feel less like separate releases than different sides of the same long, unhurried thought.
Maps and Diagrams’ music drifts like sunlight through a forest canopy, slow, dreamy, and richly layered with acoustic textures that evoke the spirit of each tree it’s named after, from oak to cedar, inviting the listener to float, ponder, and perhaps even dream alongside the trees themselves.
With Clearwater, Maps and Diagrams (Tim Martin) crafts a hypnotic meditation on erosion, decay, and the quiet instability of sound. Blurring the line between ambient composition and sonic disintegration, the album drifts through fractured loops and dissolving textures, revealing beauty in impermanence and space.

All in all, this personal take on the quiet details concept exhibits a deftly turned lower-case sound design prowess that bespeaks years of audio craftsmanship, constituting a compelling entry to a growing catalog.
