It’s the big beautiful Time Released Sound art book! Designed by curator, Colin Herrick, and sidekick, Maria, to perch cutely on your coffee table, commemorating a decade of obsessive crafting of a host of handmade housing of its music releases collected into book form, Time Released Sound: A Decade Of Handmade Music Packaging was created to showcase TRS designs and products, while constituting ‘a personal redemption of sorts for ourselves.’ To maximize control over look’n’feel, it was decided to self-produce, and after a 2-year+ process it’s landed.

It began with all packaging professionally photographed at Mark Serr’s studio, each release styled by Herrick himself. The object itself was designed by trusted friend, John Hubbard, designer of art books and catalogs with hundreds of credits. Proof-reading was meticulous, a 55,000-word picture book demanding nothing less than Jesse Burson’s searching scrutiny. A section with an extensive interview conducted by Greg Scharpen, host of KALX radio Arts In Review show, deserving a foreword from co-owner of SF’s legendary Aquarius Records, Andee Connors, two pages of whose idiosyncratic reviews of TRS works also feature. Top it off with hundreds of process shots, pages of design variations for special editions, plus all standard CD and vinyl version artworks. And… Bingo! The Whole Package.

The Book: 288 pgs, 10” square full-color hardback, offset printed on highest quality, 150gsm Magno Volume art book paper, with embossing and spot varnishing inside and out. Over 100 2-page photographic spreads with in-depth descriptions of the first 100+ releases. Extensive interview with founder/designer/creator, Colin. TRS release reviews and testimonials to their impact (incl. from yr humble igloo contrib!). 100s of images of studio and process shots, ltd. ed. variations, and all standard CD and LP artwork. First ed. of 500 copies, 70 of which come in a ltd. Deluxe ed.

The Music: 2 CDs with 36 select tracks, time-themed in line with the label aesthetic, amounting to 2.5+ hrs of music by TRS roster artists: Maps & Diagrams, Dalot, Olga Wojciechowska, David Gutman (Drawing Virtual Gardens), Francisco Sonur, Matti Bye, Ghostwriter, Mario Verandi, Jakob Lindhagen & Dag Rosenqvist, Leo Takami, Julien Demoulin & Christophe Bailleau, Francesco Giannico, Matteo Uggeri, Guy Gelem, Mikael Lind, Swoop and Cross, Anthony Saggers (Stray Ghost), Wil Bolton, Wilson Trouve, Hoshiko Yamane, Benjamin Finger, Fabio Orsi, David Newlyn, Giulio Aldinucci, Juliet Gordon (The Classical), Orghanon, Paolo Bellipanni, Julien Boulier, Tristan Schorr (Gideon Wolf), Patrick R.
