13 is a fun experience. There’s a lot of danceable moments—but also a lot of more intricate explorations of techno, industrial, and electro with only six tracks to offer. The record manages to find a great balance between these genres, leaving you with some really memorable and catchy tunes, while also punching hard when it wants to.
Surrounded by good friends contributing their own interpretations—including Abdicant, Access To Arasaka, Valance Drakes, Jérôme Chassagnard, Unterm Rad, Asshole Galaxy, Abdicant, Weldroid, Grosso Gadgetto, and Mitoma—”Альбатрос” turns into an avalanche of sonic detritus.
Some may have given up dreaming, but not me—and three years later I’m more than happy to say that the patience paid off. Henry & Gerald take their rightful place in the studio and with an apparent love of Welsh mountains unleash Twmpa upon us. It’s the perfect mix and balance of classic Yimino and fresh new ideas that one might not have expected from the pair.
Transporting us back to the early aughts where Toytronic, Art-Tek, Neo Ouija, and Pause_2 labels launched melodic experimental electronic transmissions during the height of IDM; Low Communication glides somewhere between then and now.
2024 is well underway. Nevertheless, We Forfeit returns to one of their many, many traditions; their favorite records of 2023!
This 1994 album transcended expectations and opinions when it was first released, thirty years on it is still doing so. A fitting homage being paid to an artist who was utterly unique in his approach, a beautiful reissue of a milestone of electronic music.
There’s a great mixture and balance to the album with Henke’s signature Monolake style plus several ventures into new and different territory for the Berlin resident. In all his years of creating music it’s clear Henke has never swerved from delivering powerful, curated and expertly executed music.
Displacer revisits this iconic record and brings some friends along to partake, creating a flowing and textural audio assault that represents the entire dark electronic music landscape, likely for another decade.
The sheer magnitude of Larval Beak’s roughened overflows spills over five succinct tracks, yet manages to convey a powerful sonic panoramic within a brisk 20 minutes.

Diffused Nocturne ultimately reveals a powerful array of soundtracks exploring the infinitesimal trajectory of electronic music, dipping from low-flying bass thuds to darker technoid shapes.
