In this tantalizing and aptly-titled release, several disintegrated sparks coalesce amid unique auditory aberrations.

Gabor Nemerov’s eight tracks revealed via Chromatic Aberration are as experimental as they come, “exploring the interaction between man and equipment, how one’s working method influences the other, and how the outcome can be a pulsating, drifting torrent of polymetric rhythms and ever-evolving atonal sounds.”

In actuality, a slew of baffling noises are divided into hundreds of symmetrical elements with scraped sounds and sandblasted mechanical accoutrements. Entering pseudo-industrial vortices, “muir woods,” a stunning location in the hills North of The Golden Gate Bridge (San Francisco, CA), simultaneously immerses the listener in a mesmerizing synth swarm and embarks on clinical electronic force fields. The closing piece, “inkd out as well as burnt,” pulls everything together in a wonderfully disconnected cacophony, as Nemerov finds solace in archaic and otherworldly rhythmic structures, while muted glitch pulsars flicker on “vargtimmen” and “stanczyk.” In this tantalizing and aptly-titled release, several disintegrated sparks coalesce amid unique auditory aberrations.
