iota was created to be received on several levels, both conceptually and sonically. Various instruments and features of the mix represent spatial locations in an imaginary landscape: ground, horizon, and sky, for example. Experienced in a good listening environment, the listener will imagine distance, elevation, and perhaps even time.
At times, the sound feels almost mechanical—like a dishwasher trying to interpret a broken InSinkErator’s message—as grinding microscopic clicks and bleeps collide within their own labyrinth before retreating into four states of shattered stillness.
An eerie, hypnotic atmosphere permeates Soplo, with its ambivalent, wandering melodies, flowing synth patterns, unpredictable experiments, and manipulations, all complemented by processed field recordings.
With a unique ability to fractalize microscopic melodic elements into intricate soundscapes and minimal synth structures, Breach I reimagines the (hyper) glitch genre with bold and subtle clarity.
The conceptual foundation of Herts draws from the tragic, heroic, and ritualistic aspects of soldiers’ behavior as they confront situations where their lives are constantly at risk, their foundations are destabilized, and the ever-present shadow of death looms over them.
Mist is a captivating journey through a kaleidoscope of abstract electronic realms, where every twist and turn pulses with raw emotion and sonic daring. Unbound by convention, it moves relentlessly forward, immersing the listener in a world of continuous, unyielding sound exploration.
Defined by an intricate layering of instruments, particularly within the classical music realm, which are then transformed and reshaped through the use of vintage electronic devices, adding a unique depth and texture to the acoustic arrangements.
The emotional resonances of this album would seem to be marred by writing a review that cannot, by its very nature, encompass the fluxing changes of musical flow and depth captured on 13. missing scenes explores a love of nature, darkness, light, and the importance of memory, sleep, and dreaming. The rich tapestry of Kurosawa’s Dreams is mirrored in dream or memory’s? sonic vignettes, bringing together memories of the peach orchard, the kitsune wedding, the watermill village, and Van Gogh’s crows.
