Human Music: Live Improvisations I serves as both a statement and a philosophy. What I hear is a collection of live performance recordings, each about 6-7 minutes long, one player/performer using layers and loop technology to play many instruments at once in a live setting, creating classical flavored music improvisations and instrumental expressions with haunting vocals that are entirely without word content, just emotional tones that bend and transmit.
Romantic, Visceral is highly recommended for those who enjoy challenging music with semi-classical overtones and chilling stylistic pathways dominated by energetic electronic textures. Without neglecting its own originality and trippy, chameleon-like strength, this album stands as the missing link between Brendan Moeller, Burial, and Michel Portal.
29526 is a return under another name and, at the same time, a departure. LoMo delivers to Neo Ouija an album capable of conversing with the ambient techno tradition and with the more introspective sensibility of IDM, sustained by writing that is lucid, visionary and deeply musical.
Beautiful Mutation earns its title in the most understated way possible. Nothing here announces itself as beautiful and nothing announces itself as mutated, but somewhere in the combination of degraded textures, swelling pads, and fractured rhythms, something emerges that is unmistakably both.
