Key actor and indie label in the vast panorama of modern day electronica and sound art, Mahorka started its creative adventure back in 2000-2001 with strongly aligned ideas to participate actively in advanced experimental music worldwide and from various cultural horizons.
Sound becomes motion, and feeling takes form—these are the elements 4T Thieves effortlessly reveals. I Can Dream of Bubbles, released on Mahorka in November 2024 and later honored on our Best of 2024 list, continues to resonate long after its debut.
Like light refracting through timeworn glass, The Golden Age flickers between eras, drawing us in with delicate tones and elemental textures. It is a melodic tapestry of memory, a gentle parting from a cherished land, and a luminous haven sculpted in sound.
Tone is a relaxed and effective set of tones’n drones offering a panorama of deep ambient-electronica paths by one of our favorite musical sculptors.
4T Thieves consistently releases intricate audio sculptures and visual displays, dousing every layer with a profusion of sharp beats and ethereal atmospheres encircled by brittle kaleidoscope rhythms, diverse found sounds, and faint vocal extracts.
Here, isolation and cooperation coexist within the confines of dark electronics as lighter shapes and shades lurk in the background.
After covering several hundred releases in 2023, many notables—including links to their respective Igloo reviews or release pages—are cataloged here. As usual, there are no winners or runners-up as the lists are alphabetized by artist and selected tracks are featured on our Soundcloud playlist.
