Beautifully sculpted electronics
Ahh, the sounds of old-school electronics and machines delivering emotions via braindance and IDM tentacles can’t be ignored on tysk raider’s tysk002; an album featuring nine-tracks of vintage sounds and darker shades. A special fusion old and new, unique and crafty, tysk raider drafted this album with most tracks produced between 2021–2022 (and a few years older) with “drum samples in common, played through analog circuits and filters to give them a warm touch.” You can hear these classic sounds clearly from the start, with opener “hinter dem Meer” and its ambient swells submerged in emotively-charged beatwork. Such a sweet opener that simply draws us in.

Keeping just enough drones and tones loosened on tracks like “kicsire ebredt,” “odalent,” and “aurora,” tysk raider delivers rhythmic glitch elements gliding right through. As tysk002 evaporates layers upon layers of crunchy slabs, the darker hues compliment each other courtesy of Gescom-like “sphaer” and Loess-inspired soundscapes featured on “nap.”
Such a powerful and nostalgic album that feels like it’s been around the block to remind us that abstract electronic music can (still) move us. Beautifully sculpted electronics.
