An avalanche of sonic detritus
Альбатроc Remixes by TOKEE is a distinctive amalgamation of experimental electronic music that we’re always drawn towards. The entire remix album is driven by the darker soundtrack components found in this classical post-industrial onslaught of the original tune. Surrounded by good friends contributing their own interpretations—including Abdicant, Access To Arasaka, Valance Drakes, Jérôme Chassagnard, Unterm Rad, Asshole Galaxy, Weldroid, Grosso Gadgetto, and Mitoma—”Альбатрос” turns into an avalanche of sonic detritus.
All senses are blurred in a calm overflow by the breakdown of electrical organisms found in the original melodic strands. “Альбатрос” (English for “Albatross” and a fitting soaring visual) features circular shadows expanding and compressing within eight specially redesigned sparks, where various glitches and symbiotic connections emerge. The original piece manages to survive within a million star clusters thanks to far-off dronescapes evolving around the collision of distant galaxies. As the dust and debris coalesces, new and powerful elements are created by the assigned remixers. Technoid refractions, abstract synthesizer swells, and dense atmospheric textures develop, adding more light where darkness once was. It’s a lovely rearrangement to go with an already enlightening original slice of life.
“Альбатрос” is the second single from TOKEE’s upcoming album ΛEЯ—a Mahorka collaboration with the Sealt imprint to be released later in 2024. And if “Альбатрос” is any example of what to expect, ΛEЯ is sure to be a commanding release.
