[Listen | Purchase] Melting organic electronics with symphonies of emotive instruments, this long distance collaboration (Barcelona and Paris via Skype and various other communication tools) joins a variety of genres including piano driven technoid bass, shifting drones/tones, textured microscopic reveals and classic 90’s era electronica fueled by emotion, sincerity and distance. And this is where Diario Sonoro (translated to Sound Journal) shines; its radiant glow and abstraction at times appears misleading with the abundance of artists trying to create substantial melodious artifacts these days. Strange2 and Nev.Era, instead, offer a new take on this genre-less audio expansion.
In keeping with their own particular signatures, each artist exchanged melodies, samples and audio bytes for eventual re-composure to produce this aptly titled sound journal. The album carefully exposes characteristics of disjointed shapes that ultimately fall into place over repeated listens. Not without the usual experimental glitchwork, Strange2 and Nev.Era don’t take themselves too seriously; the result is a cross-pollination of styles that collide with amoebic clarity. And after what started as a mere experiment with a focus on collaboration via organized communication, these two musicians manage to embed their love for chaos within nine tracks of unfettered artistic flare. Merging art and sound, Diario Sonoro may just be the spark that ignites this dynamic musical alliance.
Diario Sonoro is out now on Lovethechaos. [Listen | Purchase]
