Sunwarper will appeal to a wide audience where shoegaze meets exp-electronic and nostalgic ambient weaves through pop sensibilities. Without narrowing down individual tracks, Sunwarper reveals an open landscape of moving, tranquil, and engaged musical acrobatics defying categorization.
“Music for exploration. Analog sounds and instruments manipulated through digital means.” This is a good starting point for Michael Jakucs’ latest foray titled Sunwarper, a pleasantly crafted sonic perspective of balanced sun-soaked downtempo electronics. Taking off from 2013’s well received We Were Giants, Jakucs steps through a chilled—if not chill—perspective, cohesive analogous tones and simmering instrumentation not unlike those of Tycho, Arovane, Ulrich Schnauss and port-royal. Dense, digital clusters weave through a delicate balance of guitars, drums, bass, piano, faded voices and melodic swells. Filled to the brim with shiny harmonic tones, Sunwarper will appeal to a wide audience where shoegaze meets exp-electronic and nostalgic ambient weaves through pop sensibilities. Without narrowing down individual tracks, Sunwarper reveals an open landscape of moving, tranquil, and engaged musical acrobatics defying categorization.
