An eclectic mosaic of creative soundscapes and IDM nuances
In just five tracks spanning over twenty minutes, Konstantinos Gkoumas crafts an immersive collection brimming with sonic exploration. PYR opens with the ethereal, fragmented sounds of “The only,” where modular blips and glitchy pulses weave through a maze of minimalistic mechanisms. “BIG” follows, continuing this intricate hypnosis of minimal snaps and crackles, yet it remains cohesively bound by a sense of purpose. As the downtempo, slow-motion funk of “Mamanimalian” unfurls, it provides a smooth contrast, while “P.O.G.” swirls into a vortex of granular melodies, subtly shaped by delicate, evolving alien forms. The closing track, “The one circle I know,” offers a cinematic finale, gently carrying us through atmospheric waves that leave us suspended in a state of blissful ambiguity. PYR is an eclectic mosaic of creative soundscapes and IDM nuances, captured with skillful precision, revealing a world of sonic textures that exist on an entirely surreal spectrum.
