A brilliant acid-soaked breaks experiment

“WAN1,” a funky, acid-soaked breaks experiment that verges on darkness, opens with spine-tingling grooves. “LOLA,” with its fast-paced, spastic Squarepusher infusion, is absolutely wonderful. “MOUSFOLK” is the benchmark of the lot and goes even deeper into roughened acid bass bins, leaving you struggling to find any breathing room. Liars, a potent tetrad that concludes with the somber and reflective rhythm and melodic fluctuations of “BALM,” demonstrates once more why Karsten Pflum is a champion of the experimental electronic music world.
