High-energy tracks that burst at the seams

Serge Geyzel and Karsten Pflum are old friends with a common musical background and sonic passion. They’ve been collaborating since 2020 prolifically—focusing their energy on electro, strong breakbeats, acid, and IDM strands. EP2 pulls all the stops, the opening track “Tolrens State” is perhaps the strongest of the lot, its robotic, rugged and rough beats’n bass slither around acid slices and funky breaks as “Cloud Truck” dips through plink-plonk melodic bubbles while an undercurrent of visceral blips, bleeps, and acid sludge split apart on “Sag Harbour.” The duo manage to unearth a myriad of high-energy tracks that burst at the seams—both solid and shape shifting through outer realms. On “Margrethe II,” heavier acid manipulation become drenched and deformed as futuristic ambient motifs are carried by expressive breakbeats. On the slow(er) (e)motion fluctuations of “Godself,” squelching synths are submerged in a rolling fog, its subtle pitter-patter notes fluttering in the wind. EP2 is a mind-boggling collection of acid, electro and breakbeat chemicals morphing into dance-oriented and armchair listening environments. Highly recommended.

EP2 is available on Specimen. [Bandcamp]
