(03.16.05) Enduser is releasing stuff everywhere at the moment, think about his EP’s on Soothsayer, Sonic Terror and Ad Noiseam, his contributions for several compilations and a number of remixes, plus a couple of drum’n’bass 12s on Outbreak, a nice hardcore jungle label that released stuff from Dylan, B Key, Evol Intent and Alpha Omega, just to name a few. He found enough material for the CD massive too, last year with his compilation of old and new tracks, mostly unreleased on Mirex and now with a debut album for Ad Noiseam.
Run War could be titled also as Enduser vs. Rest of the World, in fact he samples a number of famous people throughout the 16 tracks, from nordic singers to dancehall toasters, from hip-hop stars to r’n’b divas. There’s no stuff for the spotters, with titles like “Choppin’ Lambs” or “Bounty Drilla,” it’s quite obvious who’s gonna be mashed up. Enduser does not just sample people, he is influenced by them too; eerie female singers are treated with light breaks and soulful strings, while hardcore rappers and ragga vocalists are followed by the proper rhythmic assault, ranging from dubby jungle to pure drill’n’bass fury. The only exception is the awesome “Rohypnol Beats,” where a very famous trio is chipunked and destroyed by rinsin’ breaks that make you go jumpin’ jumpin’.
I think Enduser is the toughest breakcore artist at the moment, his style is strictly breaks and bass, adherent to the roots of the music started by people like DJ Scud back in the days. No gabba distortions nor DSP treatments, just chopped up beats and firin’ amen breaks, Run War is for those who liked jungle ten years ago and today find it too repetitive.
Run War is out now on Ad Noiseam.
